The Committee upheld the legislative initiative of the people’s deputy of Ukraine V.Sushkevych in regard to granting the right to pension for special merits before Ukraine to personal pensioners of local significance. In particular, the decision was taken to recommend that the Verkhovna Rada should, following the results of the first reading, adopt as a basis the draft law to amend article 1 of the Law “On Pensions for Special Merits before Ukraine” (re personal pensioners of local significance) (Reg. No. 1097).
Current legislation provides for the right to pension for special merits before Ukraine only to personal pensioners of federal and republican significance.
Thus, the Committee noted that it would be logical and consistent to expand the right to appointing pension for special merits before Ukraine to all persons that were granted personal pensions before 01/01/1992, regardless of whether they were of federal, republican or local significance.
